Perhaps you already know about the little green logo with the white swan that you find on many care products. But do you know about Swan-label furniture and why it makes a difference for your indoor climate? That is why the Danish Hoppekids has chosen to collaborate with the Swan label to have their children's beds certified.
In 2013, Hoppekids, as the first in the world, could announce that their modular bed systems BASIC and PREMIUM had been certified with the fine green swan. Later, IDA-MARIE and the baby bed ANTON also made the bed systems follow suit – again as the first (and only) in the world.
What is the Swan label?
The Swan label is a mark that sets strict requirements for the entire lifecycle of the furniture. The wood used must come from responsible sources, and the product must not contain a long range of problematic chemicals – including phthalates, heavy metals, or fluorinated substances, which can act as hormone disruptors. At the same time, Hoppekids allows all their products to off-gas completely before they are prepared for packing. They do this because it is important for the indoor climate and for those who use the products.
The Swan label also imposes strict requirements for the safety and durability of the products. All furniture is thoroughly tested at independent testing institutes and according to international standards. We can all agree that safety is important, but durability is also relevant for several reasons.
It is indeed in production that the greatest environmental burden occurs. Therefore, it makes sense to create durable products with good recycling value. To emphasize their dedication to durability and safety, Hoppekids has introduced a lifetime guarantee on their bed series PREMIUM.
Swan-label furniture: What does it mean for you and your children?
When you choose Swan-labeled children's furniture, you are also choosing to support the preservation of the world's forests and the environment we leave for the next generation. At the same time, you are doing something for a better indoor climate in the children's room – and taking a stand on which chemicals you want to release into nature and into your home.
Swan-labeled furniture means that you can be assured that both the environment and your child's health have been taken into account. At the same time, children's furniture must withstand a lot of love – and Swan-labeled furniture is produced with consideration for the treatment that only children can give the furniture – regardless of whether they are climbed on, bitten, or slept in.
