Highchairs

A highchair can be a really good investment when you have a small newborn baby. It can be nice to have a place where you can put your baby while you just need five minutes where you need both of your hands. But do you know the rules for using a highchair and how and when it is best to start using a highchair for your child? MammaShop helps you with good advice for using the highchair.

Good advice for using a highchair for babies

From the time your child is five to eight weeks old, they can sit in a highchair. Whether it is when the child is five or eight weeks old depends on how stiff your baby is in the back. If your child is stiff in the back, then there are no problems for them to already use a highchair from just five weeks old. If your child, on the other hand, is more floppy, then you should wait a little longer. After eight weeks, all babies should be able to use a highchair unless your child has back problems of one kind or another. Here, you should always consult with an expert to be on the safe side.

When you start putting your child in the highchair, it is important that it is only for a short time at a time, about five to ten minutes, so the back is not strained. After a while, however, you can slowly begin to increase the length of time in the highchair. Once your child can sit up by themselves, it is no longer a good idea to keep them in a highchair, as it is better for him/her to be allowed to crawl around on the floor.
