Head/Tail Basin
A head/tail basin is a washing basin for babies, where there are two different compartments, so there is one compartment for washing the head and one for washing the bottom/"tail". A head/tail basin is more hygienic than having just a single washing basin. It simply requires that you remember to use the two different compartments and not just one or accidentally mix the two compartments together. It can indeed be difficult to remember in a hurry. Therefore, it might be a good idea to put a small mark or draw a dot with a permanent marker at one compartment, so you can quickly see which compartment belongs to what.
The place where the head/tail basin is most beneficial is when you don't have a sink near your changing table, as you can then have water ready for both the face and the bottom. This is not a problem if you have a faucet nearby.
There are different models of head/tail basins, some of which also have built-in space for soap, among other things. It depends a lot on how much space you have, which head/tail basin you should go for.
If you don't have space for your changing table in immediate connection to a sink with running water, a head/tail basin/washing basin is a good solution, as you can have water close to the changing area - and even separate water for the head and "tail" of the baby.
What is a head/tail basin?
A head/tail basin is a washing basin that has two compartments. There can also be models that have a built-in soap compartment. The idea of a head/tail basin is that you have a washing basin for your baby, where you can separate the water for washing the head and the bottom so that the same compartment and water are not used for the different areas. In other words, a head/tail basin ensures hygiene while also solving the challenge of water if you don't have your changing table in the bathroom.
Why a head/tail basin?
The advantage of a head/tail basin is that if you don't have a sink near your changing table, you can now have water close by for the entire changing time, which makes the changing situation easier and more hygienic. It simply requires that you remember to use the two different compartments; otherwise, a head/tail basin doesn't make sense. And you might as well buy a regular washing basin.
What type of head/tail basin should you use?
There are different types of head/tail basins, as several different manufacturers sell them. Therefore, it is a question of both space and taste which head/tail basin you end up choosing. You can choose the very simple one, where there are just two separate compartments, or you can find a head/tail basin that also has space for soap. It is not really necessary to have many different functions on a head/tail basin. The most important thing is that there are two compartments separating the water. Therefore, a head/tail basin is also a smart idea for the small bathroom, where the changing table cannot be, but it is also good if you are going out to visit someone and do not know the washing facilities. There are head/tail basins in different price ranges, but it is certainly not something that will ruin the budget.
