What is isize?
i-Size is the latest European standard for child safety equipment, ECE R 129.
In practice, the approval has been in use since October 1, 2013, but has taken a long time to be implemented.
In short, what we know as ECE 44/04 (and 44/03) will be phased out and replaced by i-Size. Both approvals remain fully legal.
i: Stands for isofix. I-Size seats are installed in the car's isofix brackets, which have been mandatory in all new cars since 2008 and onwards.
Size: stands for size. Et one of the points where i-Size seats differ from earlier models is that they are primarily categorized by height instead of weight/age. The manufacturer sets the height limits, but they can generally be divided into the following groups:
40 – 105 cm: 0-4 years
61 – 105 cm: 6 months – 4 years
100 – 135 cm: 4 years >
