MAINTENANCE OF YOUR KAPOK MATTRESS
As with all mattresses, it is a good idea to stand the mattress on its side every now and then to air it out. If you have a bed with a slatted base, you need to be particularly mindful to air out the mattress regularly. These bed bases make it harder to transport moisture away from the mattress. Kapok transports moisture and heat away from the child, but if the moisture cannot escape from the bottom of the mattress, it gets trapped between the mattress and the slatted base. In the worst case, this can lead to mold spores forming under the mattress. Unfortunately, this can happen regardless of which mattress is used. Therefore, feel free to air out the mattress once a week, or as needed.
