Washing and care instructions

Below you will find general guidelines for kapok duvets, so the filling retains its lightness and the duvet stays fresh.
For daily care (recommended most often instead of washing):
* Shake the duvet lightly and air it regularly in dry, fresh air.
* Avoid damp rooms – kapok thrives best dry.
* Always use a cover and change it often; it reduces the need for washing.
When washing is necessary:
1. Preparation
* Check seams.
* Use et mild, gentle detergent (without bleach, enzymes, or perfume).
* No fabric softener – it can settle on the fibers and hinder breathability.
2. Washing program
* Gentle program 30–40°C.
* Gentle spin (max 800 rpm).
* Wash the duvet alone or with a few light textiles to allow space in the drum.
3. Drying (very important)
* MUST be tumble dried. Done at low to moderate heat along with 2–3 dryer balls/tennis balls, which help distribute the filling.
* Take the duvet out periodically, shake and turn it, and continue drying. It may require several cycles.
* The duvet must be thoroughly dry before it is used/placed in storage. Moisture in kapok can cause odor and flatten the filling.
4. Finishing
* Lay the duvet flat and let it **finish drying/cool down** in et dry room.
* Shake lightly to distribute the filling evenly.
* Put clean cover on.
Avoid:
* Bleach, fabric softener, and stain removers with solvents.
* Prolonged soaking.
* High heat in the dryer or ironing.
* Cleaning (dry cleaning) and steam cleaning.
Tip! If the duvet has just lost volume, thorough airing and tumbling with dryer balls without heat is often enough to “puff” the kapok fibers back up – completely without washing.
