It is very common for sleep to be disrupted at this time. Being pregnant is not a game. Fortunately, a viable, strong, and gradually quite competent fetus is growing in the womb, which is becoming more and more ready to see the sharp light of reality.
Rest, pregnant mom
Most things start to become a little more difficult than usual. There is a big difference in how burdened one is by their pregnancy - both physically and mentally. However, this time is so far along that the vast majority will experience that they cannot do what they usually do.
Sleep can be hard to come by because the big belly gets in the way. Perhaps you also have restless legs, and the gentle little kicks have been replaced with violent movements that are more uncomfortable than they are cute. This combination is not the best for a good night's sleep.
The best thing you can do is try to get some sleep during the day as well. Most things become harder and more overwhelming at night, so if you have the opportunity for a nap or something similar during the day, definitely do it.
You need the extra relaxation, and your body is filled with baby and everything that comes with it, but also a significantly larger amount of blood and fluid than usual.
What is happening in the belly?
The baby is preparing more and more to be able to survive outside of the womb without mom. Until now, all necessary antibodies have been delivered to the baby from the mother through the placenta, but now the fetus is starting to be able to produce some of its own.
Gradually, the baby is getting so big that it can no longer float around in the amniotic fluid. Most have their head down, and some will also have “settled in.” This is what it's called when the head positions itself in the pelvis.
The lungs are also far along in their maturation that if the baby is born now, it will most likely not need medical assistance to develop and unfold completely.
Now in week 35, the development of all the baby's upcoming permanent teeth will also be laid down. These are what are known as adult teeth. The 20 baby teeth will pop up little by little after the baby has reached its first half-year on earth. These baby teeth will be replaced one by one by the permanent teeth, and around 15 extra teeth will also be added. These 35 teeth make up the complete adult set, and it is indeed the development of these that has already been established in the little fetus.
Size of the fetus
The fetus weighs about 2400 grams, provided it follows the most common curve.
The length is around 44-45 centimeters.
Advice for the partner
The pregnancy has lasted what can feel like an eternity now. You are both awesome, and it is certainly not always a walk in the park to be pregnant.
Hopefully, you can enjoy preparing for the little one. When to acquire all the equipment you need varies greatly, but most will have a good amount ready by now. You may also have already received some gifts and similar items from family and friends who are also excited.
