Many parents will surely recognize the necessity of a baby gate when you have little bundles of energy running around at home.
Just like so many other products for children, baby gates come in many varieties and for many needs. The many different options regarding material, color, size, etc., can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, and therefore we have created a guide that hopefully can help you find the perfect solution for your home.
The right baby gate with the right installation will give you peace of mind, so you won't always have to supervise your child when they play alone at home.
In our selection at Mammashop, we have a wide range of baby gates from BabyDan. Therefore, it is also appropriate that we explain how they should be used and what you should be aware of when making your choice.
Where should the gate be installed?
When you need to choose a safety gate, it is a good idea to first consider where you would like to use the safety gate. Think about where in the home there is a risk that your child could get hurt – it could be that you have a room, a staircase, or a fireplace that the child needs to be kept away from. It is also a good idea to think about whether the safety gate should only be used in one fixed place or if there is a need for a flexible gate that can be moved and used in several locations.
The safety gates from BabyDan are specifically designed for the different installation locations, so you achieve the greatest possible safety for your child – there is indeed a difference between whether the gate is to be installed in a door, at the top or bottom of a staircase, around a fireplace, or as a room divider. Therefore, it is important that you choose a safety gate that fits exactly the opening you want to keep your child away from.
Remember to measure!
To ensure that the safety gate is installed correctly so that it works and fits your child, it is important that you remember to measure the opening that the safety gate needs to cover. This way, you can be sure to find a safety gate that fits.
What type of safety gate?
Different needs require different types of gates. In our selection of safety gates from BabyDan, there are two types of safety gates: pressure-mounted safety gates and wall-mounted safety gates.
Wall-mounted safety gate
A wall-mounted safety gate must be installed with screws in the walls or door frames. If the safety gate is to be installed around a fireplace or wood stove, it must be wall-mounted. It is also recommended that you choose a wall-mounted safety gate if it is to be installed at the top of a staircase.
If you need to be able to move your wall-mounted safety gate, it's not a problem. You can add wall brackets that can be installed in the places in your home where you would like to use the safety gate. This way, you can easily click the gate off one set of wall brackets and click it onto another. Just be aware that the opening measurements must be the same in the places where you want to use the gate.
Pressure-mounted safety gate
If you want to install your safety gate without drilling holes, a pressure-mounted safety gate is what you should choose – When the safety gate is pressure-mounted, it means that it is held in place between the walls. Therefore, you will not need screws or to drill holes. Even though the gate is under tension, it leaves no marks on the walls or in the door frame.
The majority of BabyDan's pressure-mounted safety gates come with a built-in safety indicator, so you can be sure that your pressure-mounted safety gate is installed correctly and securely. It is important that you regularly check that the safety gate is correctly installed so that you can be sure that the gate fits well for your child.
A pressure-mounted safety gate is the obvious choice if you want a flexible safety gate that you can easily and quickly move around as often as you need. It also makes it easy to take the gate with you to the summer house or home to the grandparents. So, you get greater freedom with a pressure-mounted safety gate – as long as it is used at the door, once or at the bottom of the stairs.
Below you can read more about the individual models of safety gates from BabyDan, whether you need a pressure-mounted or wall-mounted safety gate.
BabyDan Premier safety gate, pressure-mounted
The model is available in 3 different colors: White, black, and silver.
The gate is 71 cm high and can, as standard, cover an opening of 73.5 – 79.6 cm. The gate can be extended up to 119.3 cm. You can purchase extra extensions for the gate, and each extension adds 7 cm of additional width. The Premier baby gate can be mounted with a total of 6 extensions, but this requires you to use the included wall brackets, which must be screwed into the wall or door frame.
If you can settle for using 2 extensions on your baby gate, you do not need to drill holes in the wall, and it can be used as pressure-mounted.
Extensions are sold in packages of either 1 extension or a package with 2 extensions.

The gate is pre-mounted, so you are basically free from drilling holes in the wall or door frame. The gate fits openings that are 73 cm to 86 cm when you use the free extender that comes with the package. However, the gate can be extended up to 120 cm, where you need to use the maximum allowed number of extenders, which is 6. Common for all the gates is that they can be extended as much as you want. If your needs change, you can always supplement with extra sections and door sections. This also makes it easier if you want to sell the gate or pass it on to friends, as they can buy extra sections or remove them to adjust the gate to their individual needs.
Park-a-Kid
Park-a-kid is simply a Flex XXL gate, which comes with a mat to lay on the floor, so your child does not have to sit on a cold floor to play. Park-a-kid can therefore also be used as a child gate and can be extended in exactly the same way as those we call “Flex”.
