The history behind Black Friday

As previously mentioned, Black Friday is an event that originally comes from the USA. The day always falls on the day after Thanksgiving - more specifically, always on the last Friday of November. The day has long been criticised in the USA, as it is much more intense there than here in Denmark. In the USA, people are both injured and there are even fatalities due to great offers in physical stores. Many videos can be found online showing Americans rushing towards and attacking the great offers available in stores. Americans chase the offers so wildly that they do not think of others, and people are therefore injured.

If you shop for toys on Black Friday at Mammashop.dk, you can take it completely easy. You can sit quietly in the living room, do your shopping and pay securely, calmly and safely directly from your living room. The only place where there will be chaos is in our warehouse, where we are more people than usual. We rush around at high speed to process as many orders for lovely toys as possible on the same day. This means that if you order with Post Danmark, you may be lucky enough for the order to be delivered on Saturday. Otherwise, we hope for your understanding that you will receive your order no later than Tuesday/Wednesday after Black Friday. We can inform you that at Mammashop.dk, we pack on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so that you as a customer can receive your toys on time!

The term Black Friday has long been used in connection with shopping in the USA. Looking back to 1869, Black Friday was instead used as a term for a financial crisis that ravaged the USA. In 1961, the American magazine "The shortville-manchester enterprise" began using Black Friday around the Friday after Thanksgiving. In 1975, the term began to become more popular, as there were now two magazines mentioning the day using the phrase Black Friday. They describe the day as one of the very busiest shopping days of the entire year.

Normally, you will experience a slightly longer delivery time than usual on Black Friday. We have more staff in the warehouse to pack items on the day itself, but even though we try, we cannot keep up with the pressure on the day itself, which means that we spend the entire weekend (Saturday and Sunday) packing the remaining orders so that they can be sent out on Monday morning. Therefore, by far the majority of all toy orders placed on Black Friday will be delivered to you as a customer no later than Tuesday.
