Guide: Choose the Right Duvet
Sleep is important. You have probably already realized that. Especially if you are pregnant or a parent; those are at least two situations that can affect the amount or quality of sleep.
We spend about a third of our lives in bed - and no, it probably doesn’t always feel that way as parents. But with children, there can be many reasons why nighttime sleep gets interrupted, but let it not be the duvet. Neither for the adults nor the little ones. It is important to have the right products for sleep.
Duvet Size
For adults, choosing duvet size is about personal preference. As an adult, you can easily sense your own needs and express them, but children cannot. Therefore, it is important that we ensure they have the best conditions for good sleep. This applies to everything from a cozy setup in the children's room to the choice of duvet size.
When choosing the size of a duvet for baby and child, a baby duvet is generally suitable as long as it fills the entire size of the bed. When the child changes beds, it is often necessary to change the duvet as well. A child who sleeps restlessly can quickly find themselves with a duvet that is too small, bunched up in a corner of the bed. The right duvet size for your child can help ensure that your child sleeps safely and warmly all night long.
Changing Seasons and Changing Needs
Your wardrobe has summer clothes and winter clothes. Your car has summer tires and winter tires. Have you ever considered having a summer and a winter duvet? With the change between clothes that suit summer and winter, it is to ensure a comfortable temperature for the body when the seasons change. With tires for the car, it’s about what works best and safest.
The same applies to duvets, where there are different varieties for different temperatures and needs. Here, it can make sense to find out which type of duvet suits you and your family best. You can learn more about this in the table below.
We sleep best at what we each individually assess as the most comfortable sleeping temperature. This varies from person to person. It can be difficult for a child to express, but together you can figure out what works best for your child, so you can arrange the bed to meet those needs and thus create the best conditions for good nighttime sleep.
Quality and Comfort
It cannot be emphasized enough how important it is to create a good sleeping environment. We spend so much time in bed, so it makes sense that there is as much good quality and comfort as possible. To give you a wide selection so you can find the right one for the whole family, and primarily for the little ones, we at Mammashop offer a long range of lovely duvet brands, including Quilts of Denmark, Cocoon Company and Fossflakes.
One of the most important things regarding duvet quality and comfort is the filling. It also matters for durability. The best indication of a duvet's quality is its fill power. You can read more about this in the table further down in this guide.
Down is preferred by most, and there are, for example, eiderdown, duck down, goose down, and musk ox down. Down contains more air and is lighter than feathers, which increases insulation capacity.
What should you choose? Filling and fill power
The quality of down in a duvet can be roughly divided by which bird it comes from, but always look at the fill power. In the table below, you can see the new (Steam, 30 g, CUIN) and old (Tumble Dry, 20 g) measurement units for fill power in a duvet. They both express the fill's fill power.
The highest numbers indicate the greatest fill power and thus the highest quality. This applies to both measurement units. And if you are already feeling a bit sleepy in your attempt to figure out which duvet to choose for all family members, remember that you are always welcome to contact our customer service. They are knowledgeable about good duvet quality and are therefore eager to guide you.
