Good advice for buying maternity clothing

- Remember that most sizes are based on your size before pregnancy, but this may vary depending on the brand. If in doubt, always choose a larger size.

- Buy clothing in materials and fabrics such as cotton and lycra because they are designed to stretch. This gives you even better comfort, and the clothing does not feel restrictive.

- Almost all trousers and skirts for pregnant women have an adjustable waistband, so you can tighten them early in pregnancy and loosen them as your belly grows. It is super smart, and you can use your maternity trousers for even longer.

- Feel free to try on all maternity wear you are considering buying. If it feels itchy, sticky or otherwise uncomfortable, do not buy it. But do not be afraid to try and test maternity wear that you do not immediately think will suit you. Just take the chance and you may be surprised!

- It is not necessary to spend a lot of money on maternity wear, but it is a must to invest in a few good basic garments for pregnant women. This could be basic tops, dresses, trousers, jeans and stretchy blouses. You should also consider whether the clothing is a combination of maternity wear and nursing clothing, as then you can use it for even longer.
