Baby and Bath Thermometer
A thermometer is essential when you become a parent, so you can easily check the little one's temperature and keep an eye on whether the child has fallen ill or has a slight fever. There are many different types of thermometers for babies, so it can be beneficial to try a few different ones to find out which thermometer suits both you and the little one best. Since it is not always easy to measure your child's temperature, it is also important to try to find the method that is the most comfortable and that you feel provides the most accurate measurement.
You can get thermometers that go in the ear or mouth, thermometers that measure on the forehead, and the classic rectal thermometer for the bottom. You can also buy a so-called pacifier thermometer, which is a thermometer for babies that is built into a pacifier. Some of these thermometers may be easier to use, but they can also turn out to be a bit inaccurate.
The thermometer that is most often recommended is a digital thermometer for the bottom with a flexible tip. In the beginning, you will easily be able to use it on the little one, but as the child grows, they may start to dislike this thermometer, and you can, for example, use one for the ear instead. The selection is incredibly large, so it is a matter of the individual baby what is most appropriate.
When your child is unwell, it is important that you have a good thermometer that can tell you if the child is sick. Since the selection is incredibly large, it can be difficult to figure out what to choose. Therefore, it is often a very individual question which thermometer one should choose.
What kind of thermometer should you buy?
Since there are countless different models of thermometers, it may be a good idea to try a few different ones so that you find the one that your child finds least uncomfortable. For example, there are thermometers for the ear. This can be an advantage if your child does not like a thermometer for the bottom, which is otherwise most often recommended.
Another thing to consider when buying a thermometer is how quickly the thermometer measures, as the child is often impatient, especially if they are unwell. It is also especially frustrating if the thermometer does not measure accurately and you have to measure again.
Are there different types of thermometers?
There are different types of thermometers for babies. You can also get bath thermometers that can measure if the water in the bathtub is too hot for the little one. If you do not have a thermometer, you can use the classic method of sticking your elbow in the water, but a thermometer undoubtedly provides the best information about whether the water is too hot or cold. It is also possible to get a room thermometer. It may initially seem unnecessary, but it can be a good idea to have a thermometer in the child's bedroom so you can keep an eye on how warm it is in there. These different thermometers can also come in various models with designs or shapes. With a room thermometer, you can also check whether the temperature is as it should be in the different rooms, such as the living room or bathroom.
What is most important when buying a baby thermometer?
When you need to buy a thermometer, it is very individual whether you choose a pacifier thermometer, an ear thermometer, one with a design, or a completely different type. What is central is that the thermometer works and that the child does not find it more uncomfortable than absolutely necessary. It can therefore be an advantage to acquire different types, so you have something to switch between, depending on the situation and the mood of the little one.
