Junior mattress
When your child is reaching the age where the cot needs to be replaced with a Junior bed, there are a few good pieces of advice to follow. A good Junior bed mattress is of great importance for the child's sleep. Therefore, children should not inherit other people's mattresses. A mattress naturally moulds to the body during use, and therefore a child should not take over another child's mattress, which has already been moulded to a body. Your child should have the mattress that suits your child.
A good mattress is recognised by its quality and comfort. A mattress must be comfortable and provide support. At Mammashop, we have gathered several different mattresses for Junior beds that can meet these requirements. Take your time finding the right mattress that can give your child excellent sleep and thereby support the crucial developmental process that takes place during sleep in children.

Junior bed mattress
When you need a mattress for a Junior bed, it is important that you first and foremost check the internal dimensions of the bed. These are also known as the “lying dimensions” and can either be found when you buy the bed, or you can measure them once the bed has been assembled. Typical dimensions for Junior beds are 70x160 and 70x140 cm. If you are looking for mattresses in smaller dimensions, take a look at our selection of baby mattresses which fit prams, cots, cradles and much more.
Mattress in 70x160
A classic Junior bed size is 70x160 cm. We therefore naturally have a large selection of Junior mattresses in 70x160 – perfect for you if you have a bed in exactly these dimensions.
Among our selection of lovely mattresses for Junior beds, you will find the popular, Swan-labelled products from Hoppekids. The mattresses are available in cold foam, linen, regular foam as well as mattresses divided into several sections – perfect for the child having overnight guests.
Mattress in 70x140
The 70x140 mattress is also typically a bed size you will encounter for Junior beds. The 70x140 size typically suits smaller children and cannot be used quite as long as the 70x160 bed size. The larger size has therefore also become more popular, and the 70x140 dimensions are no longer as popular or widely used.
It is recommended that there is a minimum 10 cm ‘buffer’ at the foot and head of the bed so the child does not hit the edge. This is also recommended for adults.
If you are not looking for a Junior mattress but rather a cover, we also have a large selection of covers for Junior beds.
Junior mattress – Best in test
Many of our mattresses have been selected for testing, and they have all repeatedly achieved good results. What is important and what is often emphasised in the various tests is especially durability, breathability and sleeping comfort.
When buying a Junior mattress, it is important to pay particular attention to breathability. It is very important that air can flow through the mattress away from the child, so the child does not lie sweating in bed. Likewise, it is very important that the child lies comfortably. Children rarely have such strict requirements for sleeping comfort as adults, but we nevertheless recommend that the child always lies comfortably, so the child thrives and develops in the best possible way. It is not recommended to use any type of sprung mattress for children. It is only recommended to use a Junior mattress in foam, linen or another soft material.
